What type of HDTV is suitable for me?
The new world of high definition television offers a stunning visual experience in the history of entertainment unprecedented. But this experience has its price, and not just the price in dollars: it also requires that you time for learning about the technology to make the purchase right. One of the first areas of study is the difference between the four major types of HDTV Display: plasma, LCD, DLP and CRT.
Plasma
Most people associate the word "plasma"with HDTV in general. This is somewhat vague because plasma technology is more effective in large display and great views are generally high-definition. A plasma display is built with two panes of glass, mounted very close together. Between the windows is a grid of tiny cells, all with a special type of gas. When the computer sends the TV signal power to a particular cell, it glows like a neon sign and forms a small part of the picture.
Plasma HDTV is known, early action for exceptional color and contrast, good presentation, and see generally warm and saturated in the image. On the other side of the glass panel of a plasma often causes a problem of glare, because it is so bright, and some plasma TV can experience "burn-in. Burn-in is a constant echo of the image to the screen for longer period is displayed as a logo, a cable television channel or a box score in a video game. If appropriate measures are taken, but can avoid burn-in. Plasma HDTVare a good choice if you film in a relatively dark movie theater at home, or if you see a lot of sports like. You are a poor choice of looks bright in a room with many sources, such as windows, or lots of video games.
LCD
It is the most versatile and rapid technological change in the display industry. LCD means Liquid Crystal Display, and can be used in mobile phones, radios, computer screens almost everywhere you look are found. Until recently it was difficult toMake manufacturers more than 40 inch plasma dominated the big screens and LCD screens in the smaller size is dominant. But now, they work well as a large high-definition televisions 56 inches diagonal.
Most LCD screens are smaller than measured in the plasma at the level of contrast, color saturation and gentleness in action. You may be very promising, and the plastic surface of the screen does not reflect light like a plasma, LCD screens are better in a bright environment. And some ofthe more expensive LCDs, such as the Sony Bravia XBR4 a picture as good as any plasma. LCD displays are also immune to burn-in, and are therefore better for use with a gaming system or a computer screen.
DLP
When you apply for a big TV for a reasonable price, a DLP could be the answer. They are available in sizes of 70 cm diagonal joint, and are generally about half the price of a plasma of similar size. DLP stands for Digital Light Processing, andForm the image by shooting a beam of light on a fast oscillating mirror in the back of the unit. The light is then projected, piece by piece on the back of the screen and forms the image.
DLP sets have levels of contrast and excellent image quality, but sometimes darker when you look at the screen from an angle. Even thicker than plasmas and LCDs, typically about 16-20 cm instead of 5 or 6, it is difficult or impossible Profile hang on to a wall. For a houseTheater room with no windows and not too far from a window, a DLP chip is an ideal choice.
CRT
And finally, the good old CRT is still an option for HDTV. This is the same technology that we have seen on television since television began, and although he seems to be phasing out, he still has some advantages over other types. You can produce a much better picture with better color and black levels, a similarly priced plasma or LCD. In fact, because they are socheap, it might find difficult to see a similarly priced plasma.
The successful CRT's disadvantages is that it not be much larger in size than 30 or 35 inches, so if you intend to serve more than 10 meters from the screen for you to consider something else. And at that size, they are very heavy and bulky. You can not achieve quite the level of the same resolution as other types of HDTV.
What type of HDTV you choose, be sure to spend plenty of time toLearning the ropes to get a feel for what's important for you and what does not. A good place to continue your education is a website HDTV tutorial, you'll know the basic ideas and look through the comments and observations of others who have already taken the leap.
